5 students from the WFJLPS Scrabble Team has participated in the Inter-School Scrabble Championship 2023 in SKH Tsang Shiu Tim Secondary School last Saturday.
The Inter-School Scrabble Championship is the biggest school Scrabble tournament in Hong Kong Scrabble history. 10 primary schools have taken part in this 4-game tournament. Our team members have won all games in the first 3 rounds against different schools. Samuel Fok, Issac Chung and Henry Cheung won all of the 4 games, while Raven Wu and Terry Huang loss a game respectively against our teammates in the last round.
Samuel scored 534 points in the first game against Ku Lok from the SKH Chu Oi Primary School and won the High Game Award.
‘It is fantastic that the team can win the Champion in such a major school tournament in less than a year of team after establishing the team,’ said Mr. Owen Yip, the coach and teacher in-charge of the WFJLPS Scrabble Team. The next challenge of the team is the WESPA Youth Cup (formerly World Youth Scrabble Championship) 2023 Hong Kong Qualifier which will be held on 8 July.
